Joseph awoke with a start as his train halted at Ginza Station. Reaching for his black satchel and tidying his tie, he rushed off of the train. Ten minutes to 7:00, he was nearly there.

Bustling streets of young couples and vibrant laughter could not distract Joseph from his goal: a beer and a steaming bowl of spicy udon.

“Hello Joseph. Your table will be ready in a moment,” the restaurant host said.
